On both August 8th and 9th, Cleveland Browns player, Myles Garrett, spent time filling book backpacks for over 200 local kids at his annual, “Back to School Kick-Off”. The funfest took place at the headquarters of The United Way of Greater Cleveland at 1331 Euclid Ave.

During the festival, kids had the wonderful opportunity to meet Garrett, pose for pictures with him, play some fun games and to share in a healthy, delicious meal. However, the best part was that they also received some really cool Reebok backpacks and jerseys.

The goodie bags were also stuffed with the much-needed school supplies that so many parents just can’t afford to purchase during these hard, economically challenging times. Pens, pencils, spiral notebooks and all of the usual things were there to get each child off to a good start for the first day of school.

It was a treat to see the smiles worn by the children as they rifled through their book bags to see what treasures were deep down inside. Free haircuts for both boys and girls were provided by Gentleman’s Cave Luxury Lounge Barber Shop. The Browns, Cleveland Guardians, the Cavs and several other organizations made this special day possible for these lucky children.

Garrett admitted to the kids that he was a huge geek and that he loves reading and has a special interest in science and space. Earlier this summer, Garrett sponsored a group of kids to see the latest movie in the Jurassic movies series, “Jurassic World” at a local cinema.

You’ll soon find Garrett getting down and dirty in the dirt against weekly opponents on the gridiron. The Browns kick off their 2022-2023 season this Friday against the Jacksonville Jaguars. And, you can bet your last dollar that Myles Garret has done his homework.
