DO WE REALLY NEED TO KNOW THE TRUTH ABOUT EVERYONE ?
The Katt Williams-Shannon Sharpe interview conducted on Club Shay-Shay has been a record setting piece of video to say the least.
The video as they say “broke the internet” and has sparked a response from just about anyone who was ever anyone in the entertainment business. As usual, sides have been drawn and families are divided over the now viral video.
First off, I don’t support putting down another individual for the sake of entertainment, making oneself look good or to make another person look bad.
If you want to big up yourself, then do that. But, to speak with such hatred and malice just didn’t sit well with me. Surely, Williams is a well- loved comedian and has millions of followers and fans worldwide. He’s appeared in several top tier comedies and has cemented himself a place among todays sought after comedians.
So what really happened ? What did we REALLY see and WHY ? Now, I see that those tickets for his new tour are selling like hotcakes. So much so that he has had to add second shows during many of his recent and upcoming shows.
But what did we really learn from the interview ? Ok. Cedric the Entertainer was proven to have reinvented or as they are saying “stole” another comedians joke. Check. We also heard that Steve Harvey stole his persona from comedian Mark Curry. And, on top of that Harvey hated on former King of Comedy member, Bernie Mac. That point has also been proven to have been true. Check.
But…What does that do for anyone now that we know the truth ? Last time I looked, Steve Harvey was still yucking it up every evening on The Family Feud. Harvey is also still listed among the top 20 money earning comedians-listed as making $200 million. Granted, that’s with his radio, television and comedy gigs combined.
Still, Williams has a long way to go to get onto that list. Was the whole thing a publicity stunt to sell tickets to his shows ? Could be. And, if so…It appears to be working. Prior to this current attack on a slew of comedians…when was the last time that YOU had a conversation about Katt ? When he had the fight with the teenager ? Probably.
I dislike when someone hates on someone else to paint themselves in a better light. It really hurts to see my brother say such disparaging things against another brother of color. We’ve already had our fair share of mistreatment at the hands of people who hated our guts for no other reason but the color of our skin.
Therefore, I have a very hard time accepting those same unkind and distasteful words from another brother from a different mother.
Just can’t have that. How will we ever overcome ?
