*Temple of Praise Seventh-Day Adventist Church, located at 1985 Green Road, is gearing up for its Second Annual Community Health Fair, scheduled for Sunday, September 8th at 12:00 PM.
The event is organized in collaboration with Joy of Christ Community Church, led by Pastor David Crawford, and University Hospitals. This initiative reflects a commendable partnership between two churches of different denominations, united in their mission to serve the community.
Under the guidance of Pastor René Cannon, Temple of Praise aims to address pressing health concerns, particularly those affecting minoritized populations. The health fair will feature the University Hospitals’ Mobile Unit, which will offer free screenings for diabetes and prostate cancer. Attendees can have their glucose and A1C levels tested, and men aged 40 and older will receive prostate-specific antigen (PSA) screenings.
Additionally, the Cleveland Council of Black Nurses will provide blood pressure readings, with each participant receiving a health card to track their results.
The event will also host a range of resource tables from local organizations including the Village of Healing, Cleveland Food Bank, Motivated and Empowered, Incorporated, Northeast Ohio Black Health Coalition, Northeast Ohio Neighborhood (NEON) Health Services, and the MetroHealth Research Institute.
Family-friendly activities will be available for children, such as face painting, balloon twisting, and a bounce house. Attendees can also enjoy free giveaways and raffle prizes, sponsored by Spot Youth Empowerment.
