Councilman Mike Polensek is celebrating the addition of 10 new homes in Ward 8, which he expects to be quickly built.
In June 2023, Cleveland City Council approved Ordinance No. 658-2023, which allocated $5M in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to build 50 new homes in five Cleveland wards, as part of Habitat’s 400-Home Initiative.

Comcast Corporation and the U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) named Cleveland as one of 10 cities to receive a Talent for Tomorrow: Digital Equity Challenge grant award at USCM’s 92nd Annual Meeting in Kansas City.
Cuyahoga County recognizes that summer can be challenging for families with children and teens. We understand that without the structure and resources often provided by schools, families may struggle with childcare, food, and constructive and safe activities for kids. The Association of African American Cultural Gardens (AAACG) has entered into agreement with the Cleveland Foundation to establish funds for the completion and the maintenance of the garden.
”We are thrilled to be teaming up with the Cleveland Foundation”, said AAACG Executive Director Obie Shelton. “The Foundation has a stellar reputation locally and nationally for supporting important projects and causes that enrich the Greater Cleveland community. Finishing the African American Cultural Garden has been a 63-year goal, and this partnership with the Cleveland Foundation will help us reach that goal.
